It's an all steel case, spring seems still good. Length is 5 1/2" x 1" x 5/16". it looks like it's been repaired on the top and bottom
where the metal joins the opening for the spring, but am unfamiliar with this mag, so not sure if it's factory or not. looks like a pretty
decent repair if it actually is. No idea on value, if any, let me know if you need it.

Sure seems like a Ruger Standard, the precursor to the Mark I.

Not made any more, and not compatible with later versions (the follower button is on the right side for one), that's going in your favour. Not in tip-top shape, not many people still using them, going against.

Oh, those ‘patches’ of metal are the way the mag. was originally constructed; the finish has just worn off. Possibly someone pulled the body apart and re-soldered it though.

Don't honestly know what the market asks for these in Canada, but it's gotta be worth at least the $35 or so to buy it for the modern versions, and somebody out there must need it. Probably more due to rarity, but you'll find out soon enough if these are a hot commodity…

Think your right sure looked like a Ruger MKI mag.

Thanks for the replys, after receiving numerous PM's I checked out Ruger MK I magazines, and that appears to be correct. It must be one that was made in the mid 1900's or so, as the follower is on the right side and not reversible.
Thanks again for the help and the PM's.
The magazine was in a box of miscellaneous gun parts and pieces including various ammunition that was given to me from an estate.

Just picked up and old Mark one today, bought it on friday, My mag is identical to yours, A real pain to load and it only holds 9 rounds as well! here she is!
Edit/ Looks like a I have a ruger standard, Not a Mk 1, can anyone tell me the differences

Buy a loader like this.. I got one cept its flatter and works with my MKIII mags and my S&W mags. I have it on my lanyard of my range club membership. Saves slicing your thumb.

I read this post before there were any replies and I said to myself " I'm sure that clip is from a Ruger" as I used to own one. I'm just happy that my 70 year old mind can still remember a few tidbits of info.

Not too tough to mod to use on the pistols with the button groove on the other side, a drill press, a hacksaw blade, and some files, and about 40 minutes work.

Just strip the mag down, use drills that fit through, and drill through to match the existing hole and slot, then use the hacksaw blade and files to clean up and join the holes into a slot.

I have done a couple.

Cheers
Trev
