I recently picked up an Israeli Mauser and am trying to learn about its history. There are several markings that I tried to depict in the images below. I believe this to be a German Mauser, that was temporarily Czechoslovakian and ulimately rebarelled in Israel, however, I really don't know what I am talking about as I am new to collecting milsurps. Thank you Milsurp gurus. :)

With the Dot marking, it was manufactured at Waffen-Werke Brünn in Czechoslovakia.

There are a couple theories about the Dot45 marking, some think it was applied postwar by the Czechs before they sold them to Israel. The K98's produced at Brunn in '45 while under German control had a Swp45 reciever marking.

Yeah, how does it shoot? They are often great shooters....

The WaA 63 does not mean the Germans built the rifle. Only that the receiver was worked on while Germany controlled the Brunn factory. Chances are the Czechs finished that receiver and sold it directly to the Israelis post-war.

AFAIK, no dot45 rifles were ever finished and issued to the Whermacht.

Thanks for the info guys. I have not had a chance to shoot the rifle other than couple of times just to see that it functions. I am eager to spend some time with it at the range. The bore is fantastic. Now to find the correct sling. I've already got the bayonet on order.:dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:
