Fellas, i went searching to see what my Sako actually is, all i know was the gunsmith who cleared a jammed case once just wrote it as a Sako A1-

so i thought its time to get a confirmation from CGN.

its blued timer, with a cheek piece, white spacer and black hard recoil pad, it is checkered, also has factory iron sights.
factory chambered .222 rem
serial, an heres where i get lost... AI172### a symbol and a p with a tick maybe, kind of irrelevant though i spose. likely just proof checked?

Anyone have a date of manufacture and What model it might be precisely?

will get a pic in here asap.

perhaps this reads around 19080 model?

L461 Numbering change 09.05.1974 134253 156953 30.09.1977
L461 Stamp change L461==>AI 30.09.1979 156954
L461 Change of the rear part of the receiver 03.05.1982 174331 179589 08.01.1985
L461 Action manufactured by CNC-machines 09.08.1985 179701

So is the rifle a Sako L461 or a Sako Ai ? A1 ?

So from what i gather there isnt many of these "Mini Express style Rifles" in the USA? with front an rear sights. note that i pulled mine off last night.*

the l461 is same thing basically as A1s etc, there is info on a Sako website that shows the changes and years i just found and seems to paint a piture reasonable, thas the above graph. doesnt show my serial but assuming its between the letter change and the next modification...

What would be an ideal Foxing calibre to rechamber this too???

Same stock design as an older 270w sako I have .... my 1985 Shooters Bible that has factory written copy identifies it as a Sako A1 Standard Rifle (available with iron sights). Sako promoted their quality barrels that were ‘diamond lapped’. Sorry the pic is twisted - I have no idea why or how to fix this (turn your monitor sideways :)B6CF882D-3FD6-452E-BB52-5C62E7C73677.jpeg
