How can I Identify witch manufacturer my barrel is made by? There is no markings on it but the Cal witch is .243 Ackley Improved. The barrel is Fluted with A muzzle OD of 1" and is 22" long. It looks to be well made. This is A pic of the only markings on the barrel, Is it common for there not to be any markings that would ID the maker?

In my admittedly limited experience aftermarket barrels don't often carry markings which is a PITA when dealing with barrels under 470mm because of legal classification issues. They should be marked with caliber once they are eventually chambered but even sometimes that's not the case

search for a gunsmith that cuts flutes with an involute gear cutter....:D...and it might lead to the barrel maker:)
Check for number of grooves/lands...some makers only make certain configurations...but, you can tell your friends whatever maker you like...Hart sounds good,:D...or if you like Montana call it a Lilja....:)...want to be patriotic?..call it a Gaillard...

The only thing you can do is trace the rifle back to the original owner or the gunsmith and ask him if he remembers the make of barrel.
