OK...my barrel vice/receiver wrench and other tools finally arrived, so I got busy!
For this build I used most of the IDF parts from this kit with a few up-grades...
Here are the details on this rifle:
2007 Norinco M305 Receiver.
IDF Heavy Barrel kit, SAK NM marked barrel. Throat and muzzle erosion both gauged at "0"...yahoo!
SA Bolt lapped to 1.632" head space...good contact on both lugs.
HRA op-rod...dropped right in with no fitting.
Aftermarket “match” op-rod spring guide installed.
Op rod guide epoxied in place with new roll pin.
TRW IDF trigger...disassembled, cleaned, lubed and reassembled...very nice.
Flash hider...commercial/aftermarket, NM reamed.
NM front and rear sights.
Gas system shimmed.
This thing rings like a bell (PING!) and the action cycles very smoothly.
I made it to the range again today and fired some groups with iron sights at 100 yards using Nosler factory 168g match ammo.
I'm very happy with the results to say the least. All the groups fired from this build have been exceptional so far...I'm super impressed with how well this rifle shoots!
I will scope this rifle soon and we'll see what she can really do...
Thanks to John (M14 Medic) for the recent advice/tips and also to 45ACPKING and Tactical Teacher for sharing their knowledge over the years!
(And to Mr. Wolverine & Co. for bringing these kits in!)
