I had bought a few from the Firing Line in Calgary in the day (also a couple of Aussie FNs that also fell victim to government wisdom). Helped them uncrate them all.
They were wonderful rifles. Shot so well and accurate.
Various makes...Winchester, etc.
The M14 had the fibreglass stocks and with good eyes and the peep sight, they were all you needed to go hunting. Rugged, reliable, accurate...
I cut off a 20 round mag to hold only 4 rounds (to be safe for hunting) and welded it back together. Otherwise the 20 rounders were good to go. sigh ...happy times
I think the M14 spoiled me when the 305 appeared...the 305 just did not feel the same.
