IDF uses M16 rifles in mideast conflict

I personally prefer handguards over the rail and vert grip config. I would definitely prefer an aimpoint ot irons, but I'd take A2 irons over a Galil ANY DAY. The ammo is lighter, you can caryr more of it, the weapon is lighter, easy to clean and maintain, reliable, drop-free mags. It's better.

Anyone who thinks otherwise has likely not humped them any further than the trunk of their car to the firing line ;)

psssst. they're both 5.56. I think only 1 country uses the 7.62. Didnt McNabb say in Immediate action that Colombia or someone uses the 7.62?

Yeah, AR's have drop free mags, as well as a much better trigger and A2 have superior sights. Easy to clean maybe, but not easier. And come on, the SP1 was so reliable that they added a fwd assist and a spent casing deflector. Granted todays AR's have superb reliability, it wasnt always so.
I recall an old issue of Combat Arms giving a synopsis of (i think) the first ever US exercise in Egypt. They commented that the AKs ran flawlessly in the desert but the AR required constant maintenance/cleaning to function reliably.

The only way to end this is for someone to GIVE me both and 10yrs from now I'll let you know how they fared.
