I was coming home from hunting on Nov.2 and had my AM radio tuned in to AM770 which is basically and all news and talk show station. Now for those of you in Southern Alberta, you'll know what I'm talking about. The news broadcast was about a fellow driving his car on Highway 22 just south of Longview. A bullet came flying through his side window, needless to say causing some lacerations about his face, not only to mention the discharge upon his driver's seat I must assume. The newsperson went on to say that "there were hunters in the area". My immediate thaughts were "well, here we go again". Now, I don't know about you guys, but any moron or whatever you want to call them, that would cause a bullet to cross such a highway should not only have his hunting priviliges revoked, rifle taken away and maybe even lebotimized. I don't care what one is chasing or how bifg it is, there just is no excuse for this type of behaviour. I would hope that if anyone knew of whom this idiot was that they would report him or smack him upside the head anyways.

Hold on a minute, there!

Bullet - did the guy actually FIND the bullet? Did the bullet hit him? Or was it a gravel stone, or something else altogether?

I had a side window blow in a couple of years ago; I looked back to see a cluster of somebodies rotten kids running like hell away from the road. The little bastards had thrown a rock.

I don't doubt there might have been "hunters in the area"...after all, media types are the wisest of all Gods creatures, and are never, ever mistaken - but maybe the "hunters in the area" didn't actually have anything to do with his window....???

Just a long shot, I know, since hunters are pretty well the root of all evil - but all the same, a little hard evidence would be nice before the condemnation begins.

Everyone with their finger on a trigger is not a hunter. Every bullet fired from a gun will come to earth somewhere. I'm just glad that the "reporter" didn't assume that some "hunter" had mistaken the car for a moose.

Robin down under

The news reporter clearly stated that "a bullet came through the side window", didn't say which side. He also commented about the hunters being in the area. No mention of gravel trucks either. This highway goes through largely uninhabited regions, aside from the odd ranch here and there. Make your own conclusions from there.

Good point!

Let's say its a bullet....it would of have to keep going and then hit something else like the window on the other side of the vehicule or other window.....

Another thing is that I was under the impressions that a bullet would more than likely put a whole in the window rather than shatter it completely but I guess that would depend on the bullet and its speed, (car windows are usually shatterproof, no ?)

My only comment is Every single time some "Moron" does something Stupid with a Firearm the word "Hunter" is thrown out there............

Can't they just say "Some Moron with a Gun" did such and such....
Why is it always a "Hunter"

hmmmm perhaps there is more to the story

perhaps its someone who has a anti-hunting anti-gun agenda

perhaps it was a rock

and then perhaps it was a stray shot, (exit hole, or bullet lodged in the car would confirm this)

or perhaps it was someone who was stupid and locked his keys in the car, smashed the window and then told his wife someone shot it out to cover up his stupidity. :(

This should be followed up, is there a police report

Side windows on vehicles are tempered not bonded there fore they will fall into little tiny pieces when hit with anything sharp or hard. "IF" the "bullet" was almost spent apon entering said vehicle then it would not pass through or the trajectory was wrong and it may be in tne head liner or carpet, I would be looking for a "foriegn object" not a bullet.:dancingbanana:

This exact same thing happened here last year, and yes they found the bullet. There are idiots out there. This is the first year that I will not be hunting in the regular Deer season. I got fed up dealing with all the crap, and am now consentrating on our muzzleloader season. My wife and I have had a great season, and filled our tags with our front stuffers. I only saw 2 other hunters in the first week out.

There seem to be a lot of denial here. It's not like idiots can't own guns. It's because of these idiots that there are fewer places to legally hunt.

Was out driving on the highway last summer and passed a tractor mowing grass on the road allowance. Blade threw a stone and blew out the side rear window of my Explorer as I past by! At first I didn't know what happened, scared the he!! out of me! My first thought was that someone took a shot at me as it took 20 seconds or so to stop and figure it out.
