March 7th marks the start of the 2010 IDPA monthly Mini-matches at the Chilliwack Fish & Game Protective Association. An indoor event with 4 interesting COF's and continuing Safety Officer training was the day's agenda. In line with IDPA's invitation guidelines, non-club members as well as non-IDPA members are allowed to join one match (must attend one classifier or practise session, prior, for safety training/qualification).
Videos of COF #4 (pistol and revolver) & #2 are attached.
IDPA is healthy and growing in the Vancouver area! Anyone who wants to join this fun-filled, action game, feel free to PM. Next mini match will be outdoors scheduled for April 11.
Thanks to Ken Mathiason and Kim Gilmore as well as the Club Board members and numerous volunteers for spending great amounts of time in preparing all the logistics. :canadaFlag::rockOn:

Great videos Phillip. Interesting stages. I know how narrow your indoor range is and Ken did a great job in coming up with those stages. I'll try to make it down at least once this summer for a shoot. Ken makes a mean Norwegian dish and promises to do another on my next visit.

Take Care

It was good you had holidays. Getting redundant with you and your Sig Elite bullying us at every shoot. LOL. :D Hope to be there April 11th for the 1st 2010 outdoor COFs. C u there!!!

I just got my old standard CZ75 as a companion for my Shadow. I just need to get a proper IDPA style holster and mag pouches and I'm going to join the fun starting sometime in April.

The video of the shooting while moving looks like a heap of fun.

I haven't had a chance to take a Black Badge course yet but I'm now looking to join the next one I can find. Does the Chilliwack group require anything of their own for holster qualification or would passing a BB course suffice?

Hello BCRdr, CZ75 or Shadow????? Those two alone might outshoot us all!!! Seriously, hope you can find time to join us and have some fun. Look at your schedule and see if you can join our April 11th mini-match.
As for holster qualification, if you have a BB just attend our Wenesday practise session (March 31) to get safety approved. Please bring all your accreditation papers. If your not a member of Chilliwack Range it will be $10 for a day pass (insurance) plus $5 (target paper contribution).
Hope you can make it and if not, there is always May, June, July..........etc
Happy shooting!!!!:canadaFlag::rockOn:

I never went for BB, did USPSA safety though and shooting it in the US for a while now. Kim and Ken allowed me to take part of the IDPA fun in the 'Wack thou ;)

I did three club level IPSC matches last year without any issues. But since I want to shoot more IPSC this year I need my BB to shoot in the full on qualifiers anyway.

The differences between IDPA and IPSC sound interesting to me. Interesting enough to want to get the extra CCW style holster and mag pouches needed to come out and play at Chilliwack.

It also doesn't hurt that I'm actively looking for new digs out that way and will very likely be joining the Chilliwack club as well as the other two I'm currently with... :D

I may be out there sooner than I thought. In looking over the holsters I could get online I decided it was about time to try out some leather working. I'd started a holster for another gun but made some bad mistakes. But these pancake things seemed so easy I got all enthused last Sunday and cranked out this. The leather cutting and stitching was all done and then it was soaked in some hot water to make it pliable and the gun wrapped in plastic was stuck in and the trigger guard area clamped with blocks of pliable foam plastic. Yesterday evening I dyed it and made up the magazine holders from Kydex formed around a special block I made up to do the job.

I was just about to take the pictures when I realized I needed to cut in the belt loops for the holster yet. Oh well, I'm sure you all know what belt loops look like. It's done now and I just need to either make up a belt or go shopping for one that is a full 1.5 inches wide to use with these.

And before you oogle the pictures I've got a question. I've read once through the rules but didn't see where it says if I'm limited to shooting one class per match or if we can enter and shoot in more than one class. If I'm allowed to shoot in two or more classes per match I'll soon be making up matching holster and pouches for my 1911 and soon after for my S&W Model 10 now that there's a special rule allowing longer barrels in Canada.

BC Rider - Fro club matches the MD can let you shoot in more than one division. For Sanctioned Matches you are limited to one Division and you must have a current Classification for the Division you enter - page 63 of the Current Rule Book.

Thanks Bob, I've obviously got to read the book more with some of these questions in mind rather than gloss over it like I've done so far.

So it sounds like it's use one gun for a season if I want to see how well I finish up. Then switch to something else later on. Or shoot one division for club stuff and stick to another for sanctioned matches if I really want to mix it up a bit. But of course then I'm not getting as much practice with the one platform.

You can use Blade Tech holter too as long as it's not DOH. Draw is faster that way with solid vs leather nolster.
What's cool about CZ75 Galco leather holsters, they fit 1911 guns very nicely too :)
And Galco leather one for HK USP fits SP-01 as if it was meant for it :)

Or you can be fumble around in all the Divisions like I do. :D It is all great fun. If you are good and there are lots that are then sticking to one gun, practicing with it lots for the whole season will see you improve. For club shoots I like to move around in Divisions and play with all my guns. Some work better for me than others but I really do enjoy mixing and matching.

Until I get some practice in with my 625-2 I am going to run in SSP with my CZ 85 for the Sanctioned Matches.

Enjoy the sport for what it is, the sun will rise in the East no matter how you shoot and you never know you may win a 12 Cent certificate one day.

Good Shooting

....and you never know you may win a 12 Cent certificate one day.....

That pretty much sums up the winnings of most of the hobbies I've dabbled with my entire life. Even when I raced sedans the winner got to take home a $7 dust collector after spending some $300 for the weekend of fun.... :D And yes that WAS a long time ago. The 70's in fact. These things are a LOT more expensive now.

Actually my model airplane flying paid off decently. For some years now the clubs that host my favourite style of flying has awarded merchandise prizes for winners. Since I've done pretty respectably I haven't had to buy rubber, tissue, dope, new plans or many other building and flying supplies. Too bad the shooting sports don't follow suit and award ammo or similar.... :D
