ok so once a long long time ago, Abbotsford Fish and Game Club was an IPDA club, as far as I know, the first in Canada. but then we dropped it, for a number of reasons.
however, we've had some interest from people in getting this going again. Problem is, no one wants to step up to the plate and run it. I don't want to, I know that. I'll support it, but I've had my time of running things like that. We have all sorts of props and walls etc, we just need someone to come along, join the club (if you aren't a member already) and take over the old Tactical Pistol Club, and then possibly, get it approved for and by IDPA. or you can just run it like we did for years, and just stay Tac Pistol. I honestly don't care either way, however if no one steps up soon, the club account will be merged with the main club and all the props given away or destroyed.
So anyone interested?

do not hijack other peoples threads Doug, it's rather inconsiderate and rude.

i was hoping that IDPA would be started up in our area by the time i came back to town. I hope that someone is able and willing to run with this

I think there is enough interest, but someone needs to spend the time to look after the matches and their associated requirements. I'd hate to see all the work someone else did (target stands, match prep, etc.) get lost.

Slavex, I'll probably be joining the Abbotsford F&GC next year (moving over from Mission) but I don't have a pistol. Still, I've volunteered to help at other events in the past even though I've not competed them. Surely the props don't need to be turfed?

Well Chris and I have been trying to get people to take over and run this for at least a year now. lots of "yeah I'll help" with nothing after that. Honestly it's not that hard. Show up, regularly (something I admit I sucked at), Open the doors and have some stage ideas ready to go. we usually managed to shoot 3-6 decent stages a night. on busy nights (20-25 shooters) we might only have shot 4, but man they were good. everyone has to chip in, move stuff, patch, etc. we've got keys and everything just waiting for someone to step up and run it.

It would be a shame to see this fold. Facilities are excellent for indoor competitions. Being close to the border, several Washington State IDPA clubs are close at hand. Like Slavex says it really isn't all that much work to MD the matches and if the work gets spread around amongst the shooters even less.

Take Care

Bob

I wont be able to commit to running it, but I will definitely help when I can. I'll be coming back to the 'wack around feb/march

What times are available for this to be run at the club? Also what are the responsibilities to run this? Administration, paper work, coming up with stage ideas, RSO? Are there any others things that one has to be responsible for?

So what is the status of this IDPA/Tactical pistol shooting program currently?

I will put myself out there to run an IDPA shoot at POCO or Abbotsford on the first and last Sunday of every month. I would like to see this sport pick up speed in order to give people an alternative to IPSC.
Slavex, feel free to count on me for this. I wont crap out!

Way to step up Jim....lots of IDPA members on the board here.....canuck44 is the regional co-ordinator for IDPA in western Canada......I'm sure he'll be along here shortly :)
