IDPA in the lower mainland

Good for you to step up. We have IDPA started here in Peace River and I have about 12 people already shooting and with IDPA memberships and about another 8 in the works. We have a strong presence from the local LEO's here too.

It is a little bit to start up but not so much that will overburden a person. One of the key things that we did up here is to get a good group of IDPA safety officers and deligate some of the work. We have 8 safety officers here and we change up every time we have a scheduled shoot. That SO is in charge of running the show for the day.

We are going to have one club match in July, August, and Sept. We will split the work up and it should be fun for everyone.

It is a lot of fun and I think if a few more groups start, we can start getting some movement from club to club for the matches. I know I am going to try to make some matches this year both on this side of the border and south of it.

I guess the first thing would be to take my IDPA Safty Officer course. How do I do that? I'm serious about. I know a lot of guys and girls who would like to see this get started.
 
IDPA SO Training Course

Jim,

Get ahold of Canuck44 here on the board. He is your closest SO instructor. As well, get a bunch of people that want to shoot with you to take the course. That way you will have a crowd of people that are going to help you make this club succed.

This is great. Sounds like its going to get off the ground here in the Lower Mainland of BC. I've only been shooting IPSC but am very interested in the IDPA game.

There was a club up north that was doing .22lr IDPA. Would it be possible to do this here as well as the regular IDPA courses? I'd like to do this with my son.
 
We shot idpa .22lr up here over the winter just for fun. With our range covered in snow it seemed like a good idea as we didn't have to chase brass. Final shoot goes this Sunday. Bclineman THINKS he is going to overtake yours truly. Like that is going to happen....:D

He likely will be the Safety Officer for me so I can expect some rarely called undefined and yet to be named rules violations.;)
