I know that this is more of a reloading question but it is specific to action shooting so I thought i would ask here
what is your favorite idpa load?
I have been making my bullseye loads with vihtavuori n310 and would like to have stayed with it but..
I was just about to make a run of 1000 to shoot my classifier this weekend, so I thought I would try out my new chronograph. what a surprise I got!
a max load of vihtavuori n310 with a 230 grain round nose (bdx bullets) according to vihtavuori's own book is 4.2 grains and should be going 771 fps. Well I shot some through the crony and they are going 668 to 672, so a full 100 feet per second lower then what the book says and I am already at max published load and only make about 155 power factor.
why such a big difference?
and more importantly. what should I use to make pf? I have some 2400,some blue dot, and some win 296 on hand and will buy whatever is needed.
a friend of mine has about 40 pounds of enforcer in 8 pound jugs I could get quickly
I am using regular primers, should I go to magnum primers?
I shoot indoor a lot so clean burning is a major bonus. I find win 231 dirty/smokey but making power factor is the top priority and all suggestions are welcome.
