I have searched our site here and have found nothing, and checked the rules on the IDPA website, and have not been able to find if you need the bb course before you compete?

Also I have a Kimber Tactical Custom, will I be able to use that? I am wondering as it has the built in mag well. Also how many mags is a good start?

IDPA does not requie a "black badge" type course, but rather a " shooter orientation"
Im not familiar with your firearm, usually Magwells arent permitted, but im not 100% sure on your specific pistol.
Google Alberta Tactical Handgun League, they are the local league in Alberta that shoots "IDPA", they might be able to answer your question better.

magwells are permitted in ESP and CDP, provided your gun still fits in the box
