Idpa pcc?

If only the RB was written with such clarity. PCC Division is great fun. In the past our little club mixed the two (PCC & Pistol), using stages from our pistol match. It is relatively easy to write plausible scenarios transitioning from pistol to carbine or visa versa. This idea is just another take on using a carbine in our shoots. We really never got into using the shotgun in side matches. At steel ranges there really is not much shooting talent in banging away with a shotgun at 10 yards. I recognize the art of speed loading can be a challenge but there never was enough interest in chasing the use of a shotgun.

PCC is a whole different kettle of fish and I suspect the division, along with optic equipped handgun division will grow. All in fun. The use of 10 round mags in Canada will actually make the sport more fun I think given we have an 18 round limit on our IDPA stages.

Take Care from the other side of the continent. :>)

We've been banging away with the PCCs, black rifles, and shotguns alongside the handguns in bonus stages/matches for years now, pretty much from day one. But without the formality or guidance offered by rules or divisions sent down from above. It still worked well, and was always enjoyable.

The shotgun is particularly popular, at least around here, especially if you stretch out the range on steel or throw in a mix of clays and steel.

Writing stages was never an issue, especially if the holstered (or staged) handgun was the last gun in the mix. How are you handling moving from the pistol to other guns? Dump bucket?

We didn't do near the amount you did so our experience was quite limited. We never tried to make it into a miniature 3 gun match. We either shot the whole stage with our carbine or used a table where the transition took place where either you holstered your pistol, picked up the carbine, loaded it and continued on or you unloaded your carbine with bolt back or flagged if the gun did not have that feature, magazine then removed and then the carbine was placed facing down range at an angle away from any down range movement. The stages we used called for horizontal movement rather than down range. We never used buckets. With stages limited to 18 rounds you are not dealing with the high intensity of a 3 Gun match.

PCC Division as I see how the rules are written really is a stand alone concept where the IDPA stage will be shot solely with a carbine. I think that will be where the market will be for this division and IDPA. There already are several sports punching the 3 Gun button. IDPA would be wise to stick to their knitting in my view. PCC fills a nice gap for clubs who want a long gun sport that is easier to manage and support with less additional work for those who set up stages. Too, you can shoot PCC Division in indoor facilities where some of our clubs reside.

Take Care

Ah, lateral (horizontal) only. Got it. We occasionally hold two or three gun stages as part of a regular match, but those usually end with the pistol element due to the size restrictions of the range. Our annual three gun event has a lot more flexibility.

I think we are on the same page.
