Some would argue that cleats are simply safety gear to help the competitor maintain footing on the range.
To the OP both games have "strong competitors", but as 7.62mm has put so well "Both sports can be as competitive as the person wants to make it"
Come out when you can, to whichever game you want to try, as long as you have fun you win. Hey you may even get to meet some like minded people, be they sicko's or pee'ers, everything after that is gravy.
To close who else remembers this day? We weren't choosing sides just playing together, having fun, trying to avert our eyes so we didn't have to look at this ensemble all day?

I was there. Kind of hard to make fun of him when he whooped my butt. He did look like some of the guys I see when trying to zoom past Church and Wellesley in Toronto.
