Meh

I just picked up a S&W 686...just 'cause all the cool kids are.

It sounds like our club may have a small start in IDPA thanks to a couple of members.

So, I'm without a semi...not sure what I want in that area, but I do have the 686...

What kind of gear are any revolver shooters using for IDPA. We have the 6inch thing for Canadian shooters, but what the heck are you using for holsters and concealment clothes?

Also, how many speed loaders are you revolver shooters using on a stage?

Just curious on the logistics of playing with the wheelgun I have...

Thanks

.

i use an uncle mikes holster, compII Safariland speedloaders, bring 3 to the line ( 2 on the holder, 1 for start load )
Just wear a long button up shirt, or a jacket

I've got a Dan Wesson 15-2 that I had Gunnar cut down to just a hair over legal length and am going to shoot it in a match or two this year......if I can find a holster and speed loader holders for it........

I have a 686 as well that I plan on using in a match or two this year as well. I bought a Don Hume holster for it and am using a couple of Uncle Mike's holders with some HKS speed loaders. You are allowed to have three speedloaders on your belt: one immediately in front of your holster and two behind, plus one to load at the line.

Unless you load your own ammo, you will have fun finding .38spl that will make the 125PF. Of course you could also just use the full load .357 Magnum :D

Yeah... Don't sell wheelguns short.

There's one shooter I know who either wins or places in the top three with his 2" .38spl. at the matches I've hosted ...regardless of Div.

So... he's either really good with that snubbie or all the rest of the shooters suck large with their full sized auto's :D

When I classified in SSR I used a 686 with a 2 1/2 barrel.

You have a good revolver there, use it and have fun.

The speedloaders I use are Safariland Comp II's and I use Unkle Mikes snap flap carrier, a double in front of the gun and a single behind the gun.

I've just sent in my registration for the Oklahoma IDPA State Championship and I'll be competing with my 4" S&W Model 19. It'll sit in a KyTac holster and be fed by Safariland Comp III speedloders. I'll have three of them on my off side in Ready Tactical holders.

Recently chrongraphed Federal Classic 38 SPL High Velocity (+P) 158 gr. Semi-Wadcutter Hollow Point ammunition. From my 4" Mod 66 it averaged 900 fps (142PF) and from the 2" Mod 66 delivered a 130PF. So far this is the only factory 38 SPL I've found which makes the power factor in under 105mm barrels.

Anyone else had any luck with factory loadings? I apologize for changing thread somewhat.

Ralph next thing I will hear is you made Master with that Glock! Dragoon, good luck down south. Are you coming over to our shoot in July?

Take Care

Bob

I use a S&W 4" 19 and 66 for SSR and I just got a 2.75" Ruger Security Six for backup gun side matches. I also use Safariland Comp II and III loaders and a Fobus holster ( which I dislike, not bad to draw from but a bugger to re-holster). I use old PPC loader holders.
