Ok who has a list of clubs that will be holding some IDPA shoots
Is there some kind of a hand shake you need to know to find this infor

You will be contacted by a man with a red fedora....

He will drop a small brown paper bag near the mail box at 1st Street and Smith lane...

Wait to pick it up until a white chaulk "X" has been drawn on the mailbox...

Then await further orders.

or..........

contact Eagle One here.

I attended a couple of Smiths Falls shoots and 1 Cornwall. They were a hoot. The first Smiths falls was in the winter complete with sliping and sliding, exciting does not begin to describe it. Pembroke has a kick ass shoot that I must attend when I get my act together.

What does one need to do before shooting an IDPA match?

Obviously a Black Badge or equivalent is in order; holster, mag pouches and gun.

Do you need to join IDPA Ontario before you shoot a match?

How does one sign up for matches? (Times, location, etc.)

How much do they cost?

I'm interested in trying out the game at Smith's Falls and/or Petawawa in October.

Cheers!

3rd Saturday of each month. During the warm weather matches are at Galt. Winter matches are indoors at Shooter's Choice. HG matches are $20-$25... Major 3-gun events are sometimes more.

Up here you need a conforming holster, a gun, a vest and two IDPA legal mag holders. IDPA does not require a Black Badge Course. This may rankle those in IPSC but to charge $200 to get a Black Badge is keeping a lot of folks out of IPSC. For those of us who have been shooting since we were kids it is money better spent on ammo and a new firearm.

The above is not to say we don't ensure basic gun safety but unless you have never shot a handgun before a run down of the local safety rules and an explanation of rules within IDPA ought to be sufficient.

Sometimes even in Canada some responsibilities lie with the individual.

Take Care

If somebody can't afford $200 to get a black badge maybe they should stay away from the sport afterall because it will end up costing you way more money than to spend 10 $20 bills to get you going.

IDPA the poor mans pistol sport.
IPSC's not very user friendly.
$200 and 16 hr's of your time is a lot just to try out 1 match.
