IDPA Shoots

IDPA the poor mans pistol sport.
IPSC's not very user friendly.
$200 and 16 hr's of your time is a lot just to try out 1 match.

and if you have not shot a match in i think 2 years then you have to take a re-fresher course :rolleyes:

Not to change subjects here but: I have only heard positive comments from Black Badge participants. 15+ hours of shooting and training with a qualified instructor is a bargain for the money a BB course costs. The clubs in this area will allow newbies to practice IPSC without their BB if they do not draw from their holster, etc.

Also, those that grew up with firearms, may be the ones who need the BB course the most. (Old habits die hard:p )

Thanks for the info about the IDPA matches. I'll try to bring the right 'rig' and give it a try!

Well said!!!!

Basic and Advanced Pistol Training IS A Good Practice EH!

As above, in the unlikely 10,000 or 1,000,000 to One chance that there is an live firing range accident of some sort, which postion would you rather play out or "face the music with" on the witness stand in either a court of law or inquest:

1) testify that you had taken and passed one or more officially sanctionned courses in pistol handling and live fire with the appropriate licenses and training courses completed on display,together with the accompanying testimony of those who observed your firearms handling capabilties;

2) testify that you had taken one basic course passed (check one) a year ago,
ten years ago; 25 years ago;

3) testify that you had essentially "taught myself eh!".

You decide.

My pick is number one and I try to take part in enough matches each year to BOTH act out and be seen by my fellow competitors to act out a 100% capable level of safe firearms handling with live fire in PPC,IPSC, NRA 2700, and coming up in 2007 some IDPA Matches.

Each match I fire and compete in I make a point of always asking the R0 who has supervised me if my pistol handling actions were 100% safe.

I try to model the behaviour I hope will appear eh!

Still dont think ON IPSC is very user friendly.
Last time I tried to take a BB it was 2 days and 1 evening.
1.5 hrs travel time 1 way for a total of 9 hrs on the road. Either that or pay for a room for 2 nights.
I have contacted IPSC ON several times. They dont have a lot of sympathy.
As a family man my $$ and time are in short supply.
Much easier and cheaper to shoot in the U.S.

time waits for no man. I tried getting some guys from work into this, but the major complaint was it was too far, and didn't work into their schedule.
If you want it that bad you can make the time! Once you start you won't likely want to stop. The most disgruntled shooters in IPSC that generally stop participating are those that get down on themselves for not doing well in matches = They don't push themselves. It IS a game. Just like travelling miles for hockey tournaments and baseball games and hunting trips; everything takes some effort and time.
