I am trying to get the official idpa target dimension but I am finding there is a lot of variation in the measurements depending on what company is producing them. The Internet seems to be split on the width dimensions, seems to be either 18 3/4" or 18 1/8". I was wondering if someone here could chime in with the exact and official dimensions.

Maybe because a full-size 1/2" AR500 IDPA target would weigh about 80 lbs?

We've got a few 1/2" IPSC metric targets and they're beasts to haul around. Far thicker than needed for pistol or typical 3 gun rifles.

It may be because the IDPA target is copyrighted. Although using the initials "IDPA" by a commercial outlet might also attract attention as well. I would think they are best described as IDPA like targets. That is only a personal opinion. If I were making them for re-sale I would want to make sure where I stood. A quick call to IDPA HQ with a brief explanation of intended use might solve a lot of concerns.

I would think there is a market for full size steel targets using the IDPA target dimensions. I know our club would be interested. Steel targets can be excellent if used as training aids. 2/3 sized not so much.

Well it could be but the fact is I have twice asked this question and Mr. Fraser Valley Targets has not bothered to reply. It is safe to say I will never spend a dollar with this particular manufacturer.
