IDPA - Vest info

Ok, so I am a new member of IDPA, but I have a question to proposition to you guys. I am looking at this vest to use for concealment (according to IDPA rules) but I am not sure it conforms to their rules. Please let me know...I have attached the pic below.

That looks like a 511 mesh concealment vest, its meant to be a concealable load bearing vest. What your after is a 511 tactical vest or somthing like it. A light jacket will work if it is long enough to keep your gun hidden. I've also seen some really ugly Hawiian shirts used. If your concerned in any way about your skill this is a great way to blind other shooters.:D
 
Is this vest something you would wear everyday in your local environment? Short answer is not likely. From the picture I am not sure this vest would cover the bottom of your holster. If it doesn't it would not be legal. Take a look at the vest sold through the HQ website and you will get a better idea of what is used in IDPA.

Yes Hawiian shirts are the rigour at some clubs and a good number of competitors.

Without seeing the vest it is difficult to say but from the picture I would say no it is not. The vest appears to be one your local LEO might wear, not something used by civilians in their daily life.

A guy on the IDPA forum mentioned these vests are on sale. He seems happy with his. Price is right.

Thanks C44 for sharing the link. Ordered one of the few remaining yesterday. For others who may be interested they have X-large and larger available. Vest and pricing are great!

After looking at that mesh vest in person I can see that it is not even close to what I am looking for.

Thanks for the info Canuck44! I just ordered one of their vests and I'm sure it will work well. Just bought some 5.11 taclite pants in navy blue, so at least I'll be matching with my midnight navy vest! :D lol

You will be fashion statement that is for sure. Glad to be of help. Unfortunately they didn't have my size on sale. I do like the 5.11 pants. They are great for every day wear as well.
