IDPA Website

Still down for me:

JAuthentication::__construct: Could not load authentication libraries.
Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet.

I know my info is right since I just did a reset.

Our friends in Russia paid us a visit last week. We are working on getting the site up and running. It may be awhile. I'll post here once it is up running. We hope we won't lose any of our files in the process.

From what I understand it is difficult at this point to determine if the site was attacked or the program itself crashed. What I do know it is a PITA to fix or rebuild and we intend to to take whatever steps we have to reduce the chances of this happening again. I know of three sites to date that suffered the same fate just before Christmas.

We're coming up on 2 months without our local site and forums. This seems like an excessive amount of time for it be down. I get that its been set up by a volunteer and we all have lifes, but jeez something doesnt seem right here. I manage another site in my off time so I know what its like.

Relax. Dave is working on it. The problem is not an easy fix.

Aside form a job and family responsibilities he is also attending night school and in his spare time he donates his expertise to our forum and that of another IDPA clubs web site. The latter was also hit by our Russian friends. FYI the Terrace Rod & Gun Club website was hit as well and it had to be completely rebuilt.

Glad to hear you know what it's like. I wouldn't havre guessed that from your post.

Yes, off time means different things to everyone. One person's idea of off time or spare time is rarely the same as another. We all have different responsibilities and demands on our time. The fact that any of us can find the time to take part in the shooting sports is the really amazing part!

Thanks for the update Bob - I didn't realize TRGC got hit also.

Sorry to hear about TRGC, always sucks when a website goes down.

I didn't want to seem like an ass Bob, but when the IDPA Canadian National forums are down for an extended period time, something doesn't add up for me. The forums are our place to organize ourselves, get information and give information. Its an invaluable place of information that only hurts us the longer its down.

As I said I fully appreciate the volunteer time it takes to run this, but there is a certain commitment made when you agree to take something like that on. I can also imagine the damage that the hackers did is extreme, but with the abundence of great and free software on the market and regular back ups, having a site down for a matter of days (if not hours) is not uncommon due to the ease of replacing missing data. The forum I run was hacked last year, we were up and running withing 24 hours due to the ease of the software and our daily back ups.

I am not trying to knock Dave's work, but it certainly seems that our national forums are not a priority.
