What Qualification do I need to compete in IDPA,
I compete at IPSC matches and would like to do some more activities, I am located in the GTA area

Thanks

Idpa is slower...much slower with the new rules.

Double check the Rulebook to see if your ipsc eqhiipment is legal before goig

IDPA use stock issue handguns in a defensive scenario. They limit the round count per stage and the distance you need to travel. In IPSC you enter the room and engage all targets. In IDPA you open the door and as the targets are exposed you engage them. In IPSC you drop loaded mags on the ground and shoot the stage in any order. In IDPA you always retain magazines and shoot the stage as it is prescribe. Both are fun and I always encourage people to support them both.

thank you Rob
these info are helpfull, however i still have more questions, such as wearing a jacket and other conditions,
I noticed you are located in Alberta, but is there any club that runs IDPA matches in the GTA area (ON) where I may come and watch and probably shoot if someone instruct me?

Check out the IDPA Canada website. Bob Bonefont from BC has been the Canadian Rep for IDPA. He may be able to tell you about clubs in the GTA.

There is a new shooter course available through IDPA to introduce people to the shooting sport.

Team Hoser runs IDPA/ ODPL matches in the Guelph/ Kitchener area that are always great and well attended (so where is my discount 667?) and also the Galt Sportsman's Club in Cambridge, also great matches. A bit of a drive, but well worth it.

If your up for the drive, there are quite a few clubs in the Ottawa area that shoot IDPA as well. Smith Falls, Stittsville and EOSC. I run IDPA for EOSC, if you any questions shoot me a line.

Discount..?

You should have to pay extra for all the patches needed after you're done shooting!

The IDPA Canada site doesnt work. Any other info for contacts for information on what a club would need to join?

Don't you save money from saving patches from all the misses ? :sok2 :p

Sorry Paul, don't think I know you, but couldn't resist that ripe opportunity.

Yeah, but factoring in all the hits on the wtong tsrgets and no-shoots. ... We're going broke on patches.

a club can become affiliated simply by going to IDPA.com and filling out the affiliation form and paying the fee.

Your club with need an RO to be the club contact though, and they would have to have qualified under the new rulebook I'm guessing.
