If buying a pre-built AR, am I being lazy?

I wouldn't say that people who build their own know enough to do it well. It is actually the opposite and am surprised by how little some know when you see poorly functioning home builds at the range. Surprising that most don't even think it could blow up in their face changing their lives forever in the name of saving a few bucks
 
I have bought a few off the rack and within 6 months all that is usually left of the original rifle is the receivers, some of the springs and pins and the gas tube...everything else ends up being swapped out eventually...Now I just look for deals on uppers and lowers...
 
I am building mine because I only bought the lower receiver, I bought it as a part of the AR buying blitz earlier this year and it was sixty bucks. I had fired AR-15's before, but I didn't like the plastic stock. My favorite out of all on the AR's that I fired was the sp-1, I wanted something like that with the A2 sights and a wood stock {the one I got was black walnut, so it's still a black rifle} once I found the wood stock I began to build the rifle from there. [Had I not found the wood stock, that receiver would still be just a receiver.]

TL/DR; No, you aren't lazy.
