If CCW was legal in Canada, which of your handguns would you carry?

I dont worry too much about people and crime in my area so wouldn’t really carry for protection. I do spend a lot of time outdoors though so probably my Ruger standard with 4.2” barrel. We have no dangerous animals either. Glad to live in a generally rural area where its boring and don’t go out much at night to find trouble. I also have a 4.2” gp100 I use for competitions but wouldnt want to haul it around all day.

As much as I love my Browning Hipowers, and 1911 CCO's in 9mm and .45 ACP, they are heavy.

Glock 48 is light and the slimness is incredible. The slim handle gives me much better control vs. a double stack glock. G48 would be the logical choice.

Really? If you can't do it with 10 (or the 16 it should hold) you probably shouldn't engage or invest in training.
Really?
You should take your meds….you are not using your brain for thinking of the worst case scenario…
Maybe I’d be engaging several dozen people
Try doing that with 10 shots…

Where would you be? Hiding behind me crying?

In what scenario are you picturing that a Canadian might have to lethally defend themselves against several dozen people?

I’m not really. I was just giving him some grief for his stupid comment about me wanting more than 1 magazine. And needing training. I probably shoot better than most. Practice every week. Turning targets…5 shots in 10 seconds twice at 20 m with one hand….anyway…

What’s the point of carrying if you’re only carrying one? Even the cops carry 3. And their mags hold 17…Why?
Because they don’t know what is coming around the corner….

So if I was to actually be able to carry, certainly not limiting myself to 1 magazine.

I should have just ignored him.

I have 3 choices, 2 1911 45 ACP or Canik 9mm.
I’m thinking the Canik 9 mm as it’s smaller and hold more rounds. Right now its pinned to 10 via an pop rivet.3
I find the 9 is easier to control

a long time ago for work i had a smith & wesson model 19 with a 2 1/2 barrel,in a belt holster, and later i had a colt 1911 commander in a sholders rig with 2 magazines on opposite side for balance, both where ok but the sholder rig in summer was the best.
today if i had to carry again it would be a glock 17 or 19 something light

considering that we are on path taken already by South Africa.....and you can look up what life is like there now.....

oh, and 1911 with half a dozen mags, fail that a Makarov with a dozen mags
Right on!
I worked with a guy who grew up there. He wasn’t afraid of anything. He said you just handled things yourself and when it was over then you called the cops.

These streets aint as safe as they used to be, toots!

Nah, likely a Glock 19 or S&W shield, two platforms (in their full-size guise) I've shot a lot and appreciate as solid, practical choices.

I carried my beretta 92FS in Zimbabwe … I was fine with it but really it was a pain being the size it is …. After a few years my father gave me his Vzor 70 (7.65mm browning) (Vzor as in Brno)… that was a sweet little pistol … loved carrying that
If ever CC was an option and it was not a prohib (which it is here) I’d gladly go back to it

Other than that I’d carry a P226 … only because I carried the 92FS for years and I got used to carrying a large pistol
