... now I just gotta find a really good one.

Been researching and eyeing the K31 for sometime. What a great milsurp rifle.

"Beware the man with only one gun".


When I think of that line I think of a K31.

Any advice on what to look for?

Of all the Milsurps I have, and I luckily have a ton of them, the K31 is without a doubt an extremely well made, fantastic shooter, the I also would pick if I had too.

The three best Milsurps value wise at the moment are the Swedish Mausers, the Portuguese M1904/39 and the Swiss K31s (and actually virtually any Swiss Rifle at the moment).

If you look long enough you can get all those listed in the 300-400$ area and still be in great condition. If you get a K31 just try to get a nice one (also try to make sure it has the slings and nose caps some that are imported don't have that at the moment). Usually the metal is in very good condition, it is just the stocks that really tend to vary.

Yeah, supply seems to be running low of these fine rifles with dealers at the moment and I don't think anymore will be coming into Canada anytime soon at the very low retail price we have seen and have been used to paying!

Oh I know, if it wasn't for the fact I don't collect duplicates I would have already acquired it at that price, those bolts are among the smoothest out there.

Curious why your choice of the Mauser over the K31 ?

For a pure target/range rifle that is kept clean, K31 is tits...
For hunting rifle, battle rifle, club, shovel, survival tool etc I'd take a Swede Mauser

It's a .308 on roids if you handload and have a rifle that can handle the pressures... Turn bolt of some kind. Factory loads are barely matching .308 velocity.

Ok, guess you're correct. I do recall reading the GP11 is loaded a little lighter than it can be.

Even though the entire range of manufacture appears to be of good quality recall reading the laters years had the best machining. Can anyone confirm this?

Order of appreciation if I was only allowed to keep one.
1. SVT-40/PU. Semi auto/scope or iron sights option.
2. German made Kar 98. Best milsurp BA rifle IMHO.
3. SKS. Semi auto/soft recoil/lego style customization options.
