And what about the comment that ther Garand was in service for longer than any other rifle he could think of. What's up with that? The Lee Enfield served way longer than the M1, its not even close.
The .30-06 wasn't even the first US military issue smokeless cartridge. The .30-40 Krag was adopted in 1892.
One thing that the video doesn't mention is the Rube Goldberg rear sight of the M1903. The battle sight was fixed for 547 yards, requiring considerable hold-under at 100 yards. Meanwhile, flipping the sight up exposes a veritable slide rule.
