If SHTF and you use corrosive ammo for hunting/home defense

No offense to the OP, but if you can't find some form of liquid on this planet besides your carefully prepared clean water, you're probably won't make it too far in a SHTF scenario anyway. Therefore, I wouldn't worry about it.

Man I wish I got this many replies on some of my posts. Where is your cleaning kit Sir? Gotta a piece of string? Tie some cloth to it and pull. Lots of car and trucks seem to have lubricants in the engine compartment. Man I'm being silly.

I see that the 2012 madness has begun!

To think that I forgot to consider how not only would the untreated river and lake water be too polluted for drinking, but that they'd also be so radioactive or toxic with ebola that I couldn't use it for rifle cleaning purposes.

While we're at it, how should I kill an attacking bear if the radioactivity/ebola contamination of the local water supply means that I have no water to clean out my SKS barrel afterwards? Should I just use the bayonet and preserve the rifle's bore until its time to shoot the invading zombie army?

I will just let the barrel rust over time. When this happens and my gun no longer shoots straight, I will simply steal yours!

Your lack of preparation and foresight into gun cleaning supplies, highlights your unpreparedness, and obvious shortcomings of your survival plan.

While you are out scouring the earth for gun cleaning solvent or a kettle to boil water, I will simply invade your camp, and take your gun, as you have obviously left it behind, as you were to scared to shoot it prior to finding appropriate cleaning supplies.

;)

Come to think of it, when SHTF, nobody will be stockpiling Windex. The supermarket shelves will be 99% bare and scraped, but window cleaning will not be high on the agenda.

Did the russians carry a bottle of windex during there various armed conflicts? I'm pretty sure they just kept shooting...and they didn't even have the chrome lined barrels like the chinese.

You will be fine
