Would it be considered an AR variant then? If its restricted what would make this gun so desirable? High caliber? price? Why not buy an ar?

Kind of a silly question, its something new and Id wannit just cause.
 
The lower is considered the firearm with ARs. ARs are restricted by name in Canada (because whoever classified them watched too many movies or for some other strange motive).

Thus, what you are really looking at, as something new, is just the upper which should fit on any AR lower unless it is some special calibre.

I like ARs and own a few. But the restricted status blows.
 
Thats a pretty neat looking upper. I wonder how the gas system looks, might be worth checking out for an AR upper as long as its not too much money (although I can see the upper going for 2 grand up here)
 
What is the operation on that Vltor? The Remington system is just an upper; a hopeful choice to aid with the issues that have stemmed from the M4's gas system.

Apparently, it's a great deal similar to the operation system on that ACR....aka, the scar, the other ACR, the Massoud, and whatever other gun it operates like.

Truth be told, we don't need all the reliability in the world...with our grand count of 5 rounds, but it certainly seems like an interesting choice. Less polymer than the above systems, so I'm happy. Anyone catch a glimpse of the new Sig platforms?
