If there's one thing worse than a scope bite...

Glad it wasn't your eye!

Congrats on the harvest, I bet the meat is awesome!

Cheers
Jay

I was thinking the worst case scenario after reading title.
When I bought my first firearm (Model 94 A/E) back in the day , it took me awhile to stop punching myself in the nose with every shot.
Dont recall how I corrected that annoying habit/condition
Congrats on the cut tag.

Good thing ye didn't get a serious owie from that boo-boo OP.
I've never hunted with a tang sighted rifle as the position of the sight interferes with my grip along with the fragility of the sights in the bush. I didn't think much about the folded back hazard these sights can pose over the years until now. Target work is all I've ever used tang sights for.

I'm in the "Weatherby Eye Club" meself from a bubba'd 12 ga. Remington Model 11 that was fitted with a Weaver K2.5x scope I bought from me favorite
dealer back in the early 70's. Being in a hurry to go test 'er out, I took a pack of Imperial 2 3/4 high brass rifled slugs along for a trip straight from the
shop to the shootin' spot and tried a poke on a target at 30 yds. One shot was all that mission lasted. I took a scope bonk just over me eyebrow which
leaked for a bit and left a purple bruise for a few days.

When I got home, I took the gun down to figger out why it kicked so wicked. Turned out the bugger was missing the friction sleeve on the mag tube.
Lesson quickly learned. Never go shootin' without really checking out the gun beforehand. :bangHead:

Glad you are okay, bet you never do that again! I have been shooting over thirty years, got a little kiss from the scope a couple of times, hat readjusted a few times as well, but never a cut or anything like that, lucky I guess.

When I was young and dumb I attempted skeet with a pistol grip 18" 12g first two shots went fine but I missed the second shot on the double and racked it for a third shot and really focused on that front bead at the distant clay.....you can imagine my surprise when I punched myself full in the nose/ mouth with that sucker.....ouch

Glad you are okay.

I was about 19 and got a 270 with a cheap scope (no rubber ocular ring). Jay and I went to the pit to sight it in over Jay's hood and i leaned way too far forward. All I remember is Franny (Jay's lovey wife now) yelling out if I was scratching tje truck as I slid down it :). He kind of gave me a shake and said do not touch my eyebrow. Of course if someone says that you are going to do it. Well next the g I know I am blind in one eye from tje blood.

We got it to stop after a bit. Should have had a stitch, but my father's buddy was in outpatients and I did not want to see the look on his face AGAIN (heart stopped from a hypoglycemic reaction 9 months before that he helped save me from). Luckily tje scar is in my eyebrow so it is barely visible.
