If you could only have 1 handgun which would you choose and why?

If reload and shoot quite bit, DA revolver is the answer (unless you are competing in disciplines where semiauto is the must). I like Bisley more than any other revolver, but for all practical reasons DA wins hands down; easy to load and unload, you don’t have to chase the brass around, see http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72615, and selection is great, prices are reasonable, much better than for semiautos.

If I could only have one handgun out of the ones I currently own, I'd choose the 686. As mentioned, reliable, well built, proven (to me), ammo readily available and a versatile round. A .44 magnum would be a good choice but I don't own a handgun chambered for it and I haven't shot one enough to be confident with it. Second choice would be a .45 ACP pistol, either a 1911 variant or a Sig 220.

God forbid that I could only have one!! I have a 4" S&W model 29 with S&W factory ivory Magna grips, that would have to be # 1. Here I have to side with the master, Elmer Keith. There are not too many 'things' or situations the 44 couldn't handle. For one only, that would have to do.

Out of all the guns I've owned so far and currently own,I wouldn,t let you take my STI Trojan .40.
I' thoroughly enjoy shooting this pistol.
It is just a joy to handle and shoot.
It is well fitted ,quality parts and accurate.
I like the calibre too.
Brass is free and reloading costs are not exhorbitant.

I have or have owned many pistols and revolvers and would have to say the one I will not part with is my S&W Model 28 in .357
Nice trigger and action, right from the box, best value for $$ and very, very accurate.

If I could?????? I would opt to a Glock 18 with full high cap mag 30 rounds baby...:D :D :D :D :D

Glock 17 :D

Why? because it is simple, accurate, virtually indestructible and affordable. 9mm is ultra common. If we are talking about accessories lets add a M3 light and a suppressor too.

If I could have only 1 handgun.....I would have to go with the Best!!!

Non other than the infamous Heckler & Koch MARK 23 USSOCOM .45 Auto with Streamlight L.A.M (Laser Aiming Moduel) and sound suppressor manufactured by Knights Armament Corporation.

Nothing....and I mean NOTHING!!! can touch this high-end weapon system.

Browning Hi-power in 9mm... My first handgun, the first I shot with much, and what I used to carry at work. I like others but if I can only have one it would be a good Inglis Hi-power or a MkIII Hi-power.

1911A1 45acp

Mainly because if something ever broke on it you would be guaranteed to find spare parts out there...plus any cracks or breaks could be welded as they are composed of steel.

Durability...All steel construction...Low recoil...Easy to maintain...Single Action

:D

1911A1, in .45ACP, with the according goodies to feed 9mm, .40S&W, .22LR.

And to back it up, well, another 1911 in 10mm.

Count me for another vote for a single stack 1911A1 in .45ACP. I'd only need to add a .22 Conversion Unit and I'd be all set. ;)
