If you could only have one gun, which one?

Ok, its 2011 and a terrorist group has just attacked a shopping centre in Toronto with fully automatic AK 47's and RPGs brought in by diplomatic pouch from an unnamed, oil rich country.

Immediately the media and the newly elected Liberal government blame legal gun owners for the massacre.

They move to limit each household to only one gun.

Which one would you keep and why?

government lenght 1911 in 45acp

availability of ammo and pieces and a 100 year old design that knows no flaws:cool:

Interesting scenario. I would like to go with a glock in.40

But how could they blame it on us? We can have no ak47 even in semi. Forget about the full autos

No brainer.... a 1911.

1911 in .45 ACP.

With conversions/topends in .22 lr; 9mm; .38 Super; .40 S&W; 10mm.

And loads of spare parts to keep it running when necessary.

And loads of requisite magazines, of course.

Alternate choice....

Or a current Glock G22 in .40 cal with conversions for .22lr and 9mm.

And requisite spare parts & mags, too.

Yeah, I could be happy with that, also.

Well this is in the "Pistols and Revolvers" section... If I were to choose only one gun, long or short, it'd be my 870 with an assortment of bird, buck and slugs.

If, because this is in the "P&R" section, I am limited to a handgun, NP-34 (SIG 228 clone). Because it's what I have.

There is a "pro" side to having a sidearm over a long gun; especially in a time of civil unrest with a gun grabby government. If you're "out and about", you'll likely be better off with a pistol tucked under your shirt than a shotgun over your shoulder. If it's an all out war however, go with the long gun... obviously. :)
