If you could only have one

Mauser 98 in .308 (Israeli).....or maybe the rifle I'm gonna buy the day we get rid of that insane long-gun registry here in Québec: Ruger gun site scout.
(I haven't bought a new rifle since C68...)

The prospect is almost too disturbing to consider; although with the Liberals only an election away . . .

I guess it would be my ZG-47 in .30/06. It can eat almost any powder regardless of burning rate, and .30 caliber bullets jacketed or lead are in great abundance for the time being. As for ballistic and terminal performance, if I can see it (within reason), I can hit it, and given a decent bullet, once hit, it won't go far. And I can carry more .30/06 ammo than I can .375 ammo, although a .375 would be a close second choice.
