If you could only own ONE bolt action rifle ? ... not a troll thread

:)Good choice. When my Dad passed away, I inherited his

A Husqvarna model 4000 light weight, and in 30-06. It 'got the call' a few years back for a Mule Deer hunt on draw in Alberta where I was guided by my Daughter & Son In Law.

Looks as though it will be handed down to one of my Granddaughters when I'm finished with it as most other family members are lefties.

Nice rifle ! Would love to find that in .308.

No 1 Mk III Lee Enfield.

.303 will solve whatever needs solving
Accurate further out than I am
10 Round magazine
Fastest, smoothest turn bolt action ever made (applies to all the Enfield action rifles)
Durable

Prefer the No 1 Mk III over the no 4 Mk I simply due to the tangent sights. I can... not... shoot peep sights worth a darn. It's a shame to my family and heritage to admit it, but it is what it is.

You cant buy a better gun for any money than a CZ550LUX with a nice controlled feed K98 sport action, and take it in 308win, there is still plenty of Nato ammo around in military stores, everyone manufactures 308 all over the world so maintaining or stocking up will never be a problem, you will never walk into a store and find it sold out, well that is not unless the **** hits the fan and by then you should be well stocked, it can drop any deer on the continent without a problem, and has a very versatile range of ammo available from 125gr to 200gr and if the zombies ever do rise up there is no way it wont dispatch them in large numbers with deadly efficiency from any distance you would like to maintain for safety.

I've been waiting on a new bolt shroud for my ruger mk2 for about a year now from the Canadian ruger warranty shop. So I guess to answer your question ONE if its the part you need. A rem 700 will never be out of service long waiting for a part. I will never get bored with a rem 700 as my only gun since like Barbie, I can dress her up to fill a new role every week.
How many extra parts does a person need? What are we playing Barbie here?

Don't think I was giving you ####...I have a Harley so I know all about Boy-Barbie toys!

Now, off to wire up my driving lights...

Only one gun ... easy ..

Remington 700 short action in .308.
Short barrel (18.5", maybe 20"), backup iron sights, lightweight stock, still haven't found a light scope with features I want.

Hard to decide, but possibly my most accurate bolt action rifle is the Wichita 1375 target rifle in 308 Winchester, Krieger barrel.

If it came down to it, I'd place some NF optics on top. Complete it with a cheekpiece and I don't mind that it's a one shooter.

But it would be terrible thing to shorten that lovely long barrel though. lol

Oh, sure, everyone says they would slog through the rest of their lives with their one favourite beater .308 or their iron-sighted Lee-Enfield...but if you look at the places where this scenario is already reality...or at least where the total number of firearms is severely limited...you find that a lot of folks own interchangeable-barrel guns like Blaser R93/R8, Merkel Helix, Sauer 202, etc. It's the only logical answer to this question. My choice, mainly because of experience with it, is the R93, but any of them would do the trick.
