If you had $10,000.............................?

I was in the same place last year. Ended up getting into kayaking for me and the wife. 2 kayaks and gear. Custom built trailer and a new a400 xplor ate into the 10 grand. The rest i spent on my daughter
I think i made the right choice but my options were a decent double rifle in 450/400 3" nitro
I looked for a good condition holland n holland and came up empty then took a serious look at the new rigby highlander. Nice as it was and i love the style i decided to wait and have built a pair when i pay off my house in 5 years. A gift to myself for paying it off 15 years early

I'd get Ralph Martini to shine up my Brno ZG-47, color case harden the receiver, the remainder of the metal blued, a new barrel cut rifled barrel with the factory contours, 2 pound trigger, mill a pop-up peep sight into the rear receiver bridge, AAA fancy grade walnut stock, shadow cheek piece, with the checking style to be determined, duel screw retained sling swivels, finished with a contoured steel butt-plate, or maybe a red rubber recoil pad since I'm turning into a sissy. It would remain a .30/06. Chances are I'd end up over budget.

Would be a very nice rifle, worthy of the upgrade.

As was recently pointed out to me, if a rifle with a steel buttplate is dropped on the butt, there is a high chance of breaking a pc off the toe. I decided to go with a pad instead, based on this good advice.

Factory Mauser Oberndorf B sporter in 8x57 scoped with a Zeiss 4x by Mauser themselves. Tangent sight, floor plate release in the trigger guard and my initials on a silver acorn on the bottom of the stock.

I'd just get another CZ rifle in 308 , maybe the standard model with synthetic stock that i dont have yet and pocket the rest of the cash.
