What would you buy? Would you grab a 9mm or .45acp? Would you grab the new Ruger 1911 with a bit leftover to customize it, or grab yourself a Kimber Custom II at the $999.00 mark? Discuss!

I am going to grab myself a new Glock 17 next week, and I was just wondering what other people would do.

GLOCK 17 Gen 3, tritium night sights (Trijicon), with 6 spare mags.

You should have enough left over for a good holster and mag holders.
 
I'm a Ruger guy so I'd go with the Ruger SR1911...I love the looks of it...Then again with a thousand bucks I'd probably actually buy a Smith and Wesson model 17 .22...and then take a look at mags for my autos or ammo with the rest of the dough.

Definitely 9x19mm over .45ACP, unless cost was no issue, and cost is always an issue.

I'd pick a G19 over a G17, if a G19 was an option, but a G17 is still a surer bet than just about anything else.
