here is a fun thread.if you had $20,000 dollarsw:h: for a hunt where would you go and what would you hunt.but the money is for travel there and back plus taxidermy as well plus all extras.i myself would go on a brown bear hunt on Kodiak Island.the reason for the dollar amount is i think this a amount a person could save over a few years.

Are "Girls with Guns" huntable?
No taxidermy for them.
I'd like a tag for Barbara (forgot her last name but they make Italian guns.)

$20,000 wouldn't cover the costs of the animal I want to kill some day. I guess it might if I could get in on a cancellation hunt at the last minute...

Some time back I made preliminary inquiries. My choice for for a hunt with that dollar value would be for Moose in Alaska, using the 500 S&W. In the meantime, I've got my hopes for funds concentrated on the next 649 draw.

Trophy fees on the big 5 would do it. Big tusked Ele.

You must not have priced them out recently. Even with the strong dollar you're looking at about $14K for a bull ele, $15K for a lion, $2700 for a buff, $3500 for a leopard and $30K for a rhino. Not counting day rates at about $1400 a day for 21 days. Easy way to make a $100 (thousand) dollar bill disappear.

I would take the $20K (which would just about cover it) and wade into brownies with Phil Shoemaker, or one of his kids. It ain't Kodiak (which I grew up reading about) but he gets some wicked bears. Barring that I would head back to Africa, maybe Tanzania or Botswana and have a go at buffalo again. Would be nice to hunt Masailand or the Selous before Tanzania closes for good.
