IF you have been charged

Why would you want to buy WEAPONS? All of the firearms I have are tools!

Thank you for this. For years I have called mine firearms because they only become weapons when they are used for that purpose. As far as I know none of the firearms I own have ever been used as weapon outside of hunting. I think this is an important point to make.

I would be shocked if there was a problem. One of my buddies has a fresh (Last year) assault charge, and his PAL just arrived in the mail....I dont think that they are going to give two ####s about an aquital from ten years ago...

Call the CFO and talk it over if you are that concerned. They can give you a better idea of what the decision might be.

I can give you a better than 100% answer. You can actually be convicted of a firearms offence, lose you PAL and your right to own firearms for five years, pass the five years prohibition, apply again and get your PAL back. You may have to talk to the firearms officer and explain your previous conviction. This is not just hearsay I know someone who went through this. People do change and learn from their mistakes and surpisingly the firearms officers are not heartless monsters. :D

I know you weren't convicted but if this person got his PAL back you have an excellent chance. Good Luck!

Whats dramatic about it? I got charged with BS 10 years ago and now im looking to get a license and some guns. I thought this place was a good source of info and individuals who know a lot more about guns and laws then i do...no need to get all defensive.

BTW what i was charged with was complete nonsense...thats why i was acquitted. Only in canada is an unloaded airsoft rifle sitting in a car considered a dangerous weapon...but thats another story for another time.
I think you mean nerdsoft, and secondly they are not rifles.

To answer your question, if you had a firearm charges it's going to take some leg work. I'm not going to say that you are not going to get it but you will have to be patience and go slow.

No intent to hjack this thread - Thanks. Have a friend that was convicted of a firearms offence 9 years ago and is hesitant to apply for a PAL/RPAL. This is his only charge and I think it was resolved with a fine, no detention time. Will show him this thread.
