If you only rifles chambered in 2 cartridges, what would they be?

OP asked about 2 rifles. That means the 12ga is free. Play right & choose another rifle.

OP sounds like my ex wife.... notice the word "ex".... I can't imagine a situation that would make me have to do it but if I had to, .223 and 375 h&h.... or I would cheat and get a single like th eThompson center and several barrels.... hell, I am looking for a .257 roberts for next years timberwolf hunt and i dont even hand load.... hoping the 257 will be my excuse to start....

I have only one rifle chambered in 2. An M6 Scout in 22 Hornet and 410. I sure do like it for trail carry on quad/snowmobile/jeep/trail groomer. I think the OP was asking that, maybe! If there was such a thing in 223 and 12 or even 20 ga, I sure would like that.

You might take a look at Baikal products for a .223 rem - 12 Guage O/U. I know that P&D has them in stock as I write this.

.303 and 7.62 x 39
mostly cause thats what i have.
.303- killed more big game in Canada that any other singular caliber since end of WW2 simply because of the affordabilty and availability of the lee enfield. the proof is in your own stories and experiences. just about any one of us has or knows someone who has an enfield, and how many stories of grand dad/dad/ uncle/mother-in-law(has a No4 MkII) taking a moose or a grizzly with one? we know its effective and will kill what we shoot with it.
7.62 cause it`s cheap and effective and with a couple of rounds, will kill what we shoot with it
(Mother-in-law took all the moose for her family for 15 years with that .303)

I'd go

.25-'06 (Light bullets to reach out and "touch" small critters, goats / sheep and deer as well)
.338-'06 (Sometimes you just need a bigger bullet)

Both run off the '06 case so easy to reload for.

Or I suppose .243W and 338 Federal / 358W would do the same for those who like short cases

223 Rem and 308 Win would be my two, however, there is a very good argument to be made for replacing 223 Rem with 243 Win. The idea of an AR10 where I can just replace the barrel for 243 and 308 in a single rifle seems quite attractive... and I also like the idea of hunting gophers out to 1000+ yards... :D
