If you were starting over, what would be your first handgun?

My first was the Mark II bull barrel. I still think it is a good first but like said above it is a bit of a pain to strip. I do like my S&W mod 28 (357) but it was a better second.

Good guns, both of 'em, that's exactly the order I would do it in too...

I bought a 686 when I first started shooting, and now I'm buying a Ruger MKIII. I did it backwards, should have started with a 22 and learned the basics. Now I'm getting back into shooting and I'm doing it right, with a good quality .22 first!

My first was a 6" K-22, TH TT for the rimfire, the second in CF a Model 19 to match. I have never regretted these choices and would do the same again.

My first is a Norinco M1911A1-C .45ACP, and my second a FEG P9R 9mm.
That being said, my dream gun was always a SIG P226R stainless and in .40S&W with night sights, until I saw the Equinox!
And for a revolver, it will definately be a S&W 686-4 with 8.75" barrel.

My first handguns where a 6" barreled S&W model 28 Hwy Patrolman in 357 mag, then a Berrata 92F 9mm then I got rid of both and bought a Colt Delta Elite 10mm that I still own today with major mods done to it by Joe Dlask.

If I was starting over hopefully it would be because I can afford to.....

I would order the soon to be available (this summer) Wilson Combat CQB 10mm with every option that they make available for it and also get the best 22lr conversion kit that is made.

I would also get a Glock 20 again but get a backstrap grip reduction done to it and have the trigger guard enlarged (so that I can use gloves with it easier) so it fits my hands better. I would also get the Advantage Arms 22lr conversion kit again as well. Glock's are fantastic reliable guns and I will probably always have one.

I have a remote area carry permit and would need a large caliber handgun to fill this need so probably 2 Ruger SRH's chambered in 454 Casull and 480 Ruger but I would have the cylinder of the 480 rechambered to fit 475 Linebaugh like Wild West Guns in Alaska does now. I would order them from Gunnar @ Armco and have him shorten the barrels and tune them up before I even see them. I would also buy 7 1/2" barreled F/A's revolvers chambered in the same rounds as the SRH's.

and this would be only the start........ I guess I have to big of a wish list....

Yep!
You actually would buy a V1 USP stainless. Order it with the "Tuning package", which is an available factory option with any USP. This includes a set of adjustable sights (higher profile), and a match trigger kit. = Custom sport.

My first was a Ruger Standard. The serial number is all 7's and 1's. If I had to start over - I'd take that one. I now have a bunch of Ruger Standards, Mk 1's, Mark 2's in various configurations. A quite a few people fired their first handgun ever with one of those Rugers. Thank you, Mr. Bill Ruger.
