Kind of a necro post, but someone's gotta keep the airgun forum going!
Probably still be a Benjamin Discovery for me. There's faster, and more exotic and repeaters, ones with better triggers and probably ones that are more accurate. But for an all around air rifle, I think it's about perfect. Got mine in .22 for more killing power than .177, and cheaper to shoot and find pellets for than .25. Got it on sale from Specialty Shooting Sports when they were around. I decided to get the package deal with the pump, as it was a pretty good deal, and the pumps were out for a while then. It's a lower pressure gun, so it doesn't take much to top it up. About 2 pumps per shot. It's also dual fuel, which means I can use a paintball tank to fill it with CO2 also, and trade some velocity for about double the number of quieter shots.
Didn't do any accurizing, or trigger work, and just mounted a cheap used Tasco rifle scope on it, and found that with pellets it likes it'll put them into about 1/3" at 33 yards. Probably capable of better than that, but that was just working off a single point rest. It sits around for months without losing pressure, and always ready to go.
I like the rifle for hunting, as it's a handy gun to carry, and has enough air on board to take a walk for grouse.
