If you were to purchase 4 single-shot rifles, what calibres would you choose?

I keep hearing about the positive attributes of K95's. I really need to try one myself. Of course, it could lead to another mass migration of money out of my bank account!

Beautiful Martini Kurgan!

One single shot is scratched off the list.

Choice of four single shots?

1. Dakota Model 10 "Mannlicher" in 30-06
2. Browning Model 78 in 30-06
3. Krieghoff Hubertus 30-06
4. Merkel K-5 in 30-06

I like that style even more. Now for me just to actually subscribe to it, with a .308 in my case.

Built that in miniature as a 5.6x50 Mag some time ago, now another forum member’s.

I recall seeing you post pics of her before. That's a very nice rifle and the stock is gorgeous. Theere's no flies on that Mauser either.

My #1 collection includes 25-06, 30-30, .280, 9.3x74, 45/70, and a .458WM I have every situation covered.

Well my next single shot is gonna be in 7x65r…. I have lots of bullets, I already have the dies, just need to find brass(and I might have found some locally, I’ll know Friday), next is to get some qd rings and a good light weight scope, 4x, 6x or a 2-7x gloss with German no4 reticle and I should be set!

This is interesting,

I’d have to go with,

22 Hornet
45 Colt or 44 Mag (something I could cast and do well with in the woods)
7 PRCW (not Hornady version but the wheeler version based on the 6.5 prc case)
9.3x62 or 375 Ruger as my heavy hitter. (There is a 9.3x62 lefty I keep my eye on in EE incase I win on a lotto ticket just a little bit):

Don't want another singleshot 22, been there done that. PITA on a gopher field. I really liked the Varner I had, but, it was a PITA in the application, good bolt or straight pull action suits me better, with a big capacity mag.
Also have a 300Rook on an H&H sidelever action, that gun is fun, far easier to operate than a falling block or top lever, although , a Baikal underlever can definitely compete with it for ease of use. I'd be happy with either style of them in nearly all of the cartridges I currently have other guns in, if that was a little cheaper to buy than they are. And yet, a falling block is better to use off bags on a range than a break action.
As to cartridges, I have a 218Bee, no desire to change that, in a Stevens 044-1/2.
I have a 7-08 in a #1, it'll do the bulk of what needs doing for hunting, I might be just as happy with a 6.5 or 7x57R too.
I have a 30R Blaser, essentially a 7.62x68R, it'll do what needs doing for the bigger critters in N America and elsewhere, comtemplating buying a used 30-06 in an 1885 or #1 and rechambering the existing bbl one day.
I also have a 300H&H, in an 1885, it really is a sweety to shoot, but the 30R will do what it does.
For a big 5 gun, I'd go 450-400NE, 200-400gr loads in it, it is pretty versatile, but, I don''t need it, have to be a 10-12lb gun too, been there, done that one.
But, for a range gun, I'd like another 32-40 or maybe a 32RKS or Miller, in about a 12-15lb gun, it would be on a 44-1/2 Stevens.
