A friend on mine is trying to sell me his NIB IGA coach gun. The indoor range where I intend on using it will not allow buckshot, only slugs. My friend doesn`t think the IGA coach can handle slugs, and has warned me it might detroy or damage the gun.

Is he right?

Also, being new to shotguns in general, i don`t know much about this gun. I have read a few reviews and the 4 or 5 threads on this site but still don`t know to much about it. Could it be used for skeet?

thanks

What are the chokes non the barrels? It will say in the manual or maybe even on the barrels. I really doubt if they're full chokes most likely M or IC or combination..

I don't know why it wouldn't handle slugs. Even a shotgun with a full choke can shoot slugs. A modified ,improved cylinder or just cylinder bore is better for slugs but unless the gun or owners manual states not to use slugs I wouldn't worry about it. You may have trouble getting the barrels to hit in the same place. Factory ammo is abit undersized to compensate for guys using full choke guns. Your barrels are probably mod/IC bore.

Is it the one with the fixed chokes or the removable ones? Either way, they are great guns. They will shoot rifled slugs just fine. The one with the removable ones, you can get two that are the same, IC or M, and that will help make both barrels hit around the same spot. With the short barrels, it will kick a little with the slugs. I have shot the 3 inch ones from all three of mine. If you look, you can find the low recoil tactical slugs which are way nicer to shoot, way less recoil and still very accurate.
