Igman brass - any good?

hello guys, just got a new toy in a new caliber for me :) and have some Igman brass kicking around. Tried to FL the casing, but the decapping pin just didn`t go through the flash hole.....looked down the casing and the flash hole is twice smaller than the pin........what to do? any ideas? or just switch to a Win or Federal brass?

Are you sure this brass doesn't have 2 flash holes...i.e. Berdan Primer?
 
This is a known issue with Igman brass, particularly the 6.5X55 - they use a smaller size such as used in smaller and some Bench Rest cartridges. Drill it out to 0.080" (use a 5/64" or #45 drill) and you're good to go. You could also use a small depriming pin.
 
thanks guys, I just drilled the flash hole with the flash hole uniforming root and pushed out the primer :) that will work :)

BTW: how is the Igman brass in quality in general? is it worth reloading?
 
I had one in 6.5x55 that split the neck on the second firing. The remainder seem to be holding up well after 4x firing. Must have been a bad case.

Before I resized the brass I decapped the cases with a Lee depriming die. It swaged the primer pocket to the size of the decapping pin. Good or bad it worked for me.

For about 15 months I'm using 8x57 Igman brass.I got fired cases out of which 15 0r so had to be discarded because of flash hole out of center. Remaining cases serve me very well with cast since and all i have to do is keep on annealing them every 10 firings or so.
Ill be getting another 100 cases if needed.

btw -loads in those cases are more consistent than from Rem i use to have.

Where did you get the 8 x 57 brass?
 
You would need a time machine to get it anyway since the thread was dead for 10 years....
Tradex probably has some PRVI 8X57 if you check their website.
