I while ago I picked up a ruger alaskan in 375R and copper fouling was very bad. After as little as 5 shots copper was clearly seen on the rifling at the muzzle. When I sprayed wipeout in the excess that came out at the muzzle immediately had blue streaks in the foam where the rifling was and the patches came out blue as blueberries. I had to let it sit overnight and use several applications of wipeout to get the barrel clean again. Jordan Smith got me some dyna bore coat and I applied it (make SURE you read the instructions and do it right) last weekend. After hammering some walleye this morning I went to the range after to cure the dbc. Instructions said to fire 10-20 shots to cure. I fired 25 shots using some old pulled 270gr barnes originals which are notorious for fouling to get the stuff baked in.

Came home, sprayed wipeout in the bore and immediately noticed that there were no blue streaks on the extra coming out the muzzle. I was tentatively excited but I let it sit for 3 hours. Came back downstairs, the paper towel I leave under the muzzle to catch the drip only had clear wet spots, no blue. Alright this might actually work I thought. I pushed a patch through and my jaw dropped. ONE patch, ONE application of wipeout. Squeaky clean barrel. This stuff is incredible. I was very skeptical about this stuff but it does really work and I'm putting this in all my guns period. So thank you Jordan. Very happy.

Be prepared, there will be a bunch of folks who have never used it telling you how it couldn't possibly work.

I have used it in multiple rifles now, all with good results.

Sounds cool. I think I've heard of it but never see it. Does it do anything else other than reduce fouling? Corrosion resistance or increase velocity or any other side effects?

Website with info is here.

I bought it from Jordan Smith who is a member here.

What Dyna-Bore Coat Will Do:
1. It will greatly reduce or in most cases eliminate jacket fouling.
2. It will allow you to shoot extremely long strings without cleaning.
3. You will never need a bronze bore brush in the bore again; all cleaning is done with patches and solvent. It takes an average of 4-8 patches and you’re done.
4. Dyna-Bore Coat will help protect against corrosion, both galvanic and chemical.
5. It will keep the barrel shooting up to its potential for longer periods of time.

What Dyna-Bore Coat Will Not Do:
1. Dyna-Bore Coating will have no effect on velocity, point of impact, or group size.
2. If the barrel is a dog to start with, it will still be a dog after applying Dyna-Bore Coating. But it will the easiest cleaning dog you’ve ever owned.

there's something I don't understand about this bore coat: it withstands the extreme pressures and temperatures of shooting and the high speed bullet friction yet it won't withstand a bronze bore brush?
What gives?

I stopped using bronze brushes when I started using Barnes Cr-10 for copper removal, started using nylon brushes.. I stopped using brushes altogether when I switched to WIPEOUT :)

I'll try to address all the questions in one post.

kman- Glad to hear about your results. Of course, I get feedback from a lot of people, and that's pretty much par for the course :)

Gatehouse and legion- It's a ceramic-based coating that greatly reduces fouling. It enables the bore to maintain accuracy longer between cleanings. It makes cleaning much quicker and easier. It protects against corrosion, and there is evidence in the experimental results that show that throat erosion is somewhat reduced. It does not improve accuracy, change POI, increase velocity, etc. The coating is not harmed by bronze brushes, but there is no need to use one. I have coated a couple dozen rifles, and I have yet to use a brush on any of them after the coating is applied.

I have yet to hear about a case where DBC had a negative effect on a bore. I would say that about 95% of the time DBC makes a noticeable difference in the fouling behaviour of a bore, but every now and then we see a barrel that doesn't improve much or at all after coating. But it's no worse off, either. Worst case scenario- DBC has no effect. Like I say, this is extremely rare. Best base scenario- your bore can go hundreds of rounds between cleanings, maintaining peak accuracy, and only takes a few patches when you do clean it. The most effective method that I have found so far is to shoot the barrel until accuracy degrades, spray WO in the bore and leave it overnight. Then run 1 clean patch through the bore in the morning, and go back to shooting. The effectiveness of DBC gets better and better the more shooting and cleaning cycles it goes through (the coating gets a little more polished as it gets shot and cleaned, similar to the notion of "barrel break-in")

BCborder, Kevan, Pickles, blargon- I am the Canadian distributor for the product. I will be meeting with retailers in the near future regarding carrying the various Dyna-Tek products in stores. But for now, I sell the product directly. The price is the same as it is in the US. I can't carry on business on this forum, but I can give you more info via PM, if you like.

but still, on the extremeguncare dot com it says
Care and Cleaning once Dyna-Bore Coat is Applied
Clean the bore with solvent and patches only. If you feel you must use a brush, use a nylon brush not brass. The first time you clean you may see some copper. There will be less as you shoot and clean. The first cleaning shouldn’t take more than 10 patches. By the third or fourth cleaning you will use between 4 and 6 patches.

it also says
It also makes leading quicker and easier to clean in handgun and rifle bores.
One application should last the useful life of the bore.

the only thing that cleans-up leading is a stiff bronze brush or some of those copper/brass mesh patches

I'll try some out in the spring. Got too much going on right now to play with guns, unfortunately. Sounds like the no-cleaning benefits of moly without having to coat your bullets

Little off topic but where are people finding wipeout? I can't remember seeing it in any of the gun shops around town, but then I wasn't looking for it.
