I'll never buy a Glock

Call Wolverine Supplies, order a bunch of HK parts, wait several months and you will have lots of spares to keep your HK running.

Logistically Glocks are less expensive and easier to find parts for to maintain them.

I will do.
I am not sure which parts I need. I gotta do my homework on that.

I have been reading all kind of things about gen 4s and their issues, none of my buddies at the range have experienced any though.... but, not really interested in getting a lemon...
Something that sounds interesting to me, like gundoggy said, Glocks are easy to find parts for.

I have had a PPQ for a few days and we didn't bond (it was my idea for back up, due to the similarities with the P30 in regards to controls) hence the short stay, I sold it 2 days ago. Loved the trigger, that was it, too plastiquy, sweaty grips and I was like, meh, I didn't care about the PPQ, and the threaded barrel was not my favorite thing and athough I didn't care, it was bugging me a bit. At the end of the day, just wanted to shoot my P30, the only reason why I would buy a Glock would be back up AKA just in case my p30 needs a spring in the middle of an IDPA match kinda thing....
I might get another PPQ again in the future when they get rid of that threaded barrel though.

Depends which HK cool aid you are drinking. If it's the P7 cool aid the Glock is very similar, striker fired, low bore axis, no external safety, same trigger pull every shot. Also I do agree that the Steyr is an improvement on the Glock.

Well no one really needs a trigger job, but even trained pro shooters get get em done. Perhaps they never attended TDC's School of Shooting ;-)

Depends on what you consider professional and what they do for a living. The top level competitive shooters are searching for a minor edge to win. That edge is something 99% or more who shoot will never see the advantage of due to their poor fundamentals. A 1/2 MOA gain in group size for the average shooter with a 3-5 MOA flinch is a waste of time and money. For those who engage humans, I doubt the majority run aftermarket triggers. The ones I've met and talked to certainly do not.

I want a ppq... soo hard to find right now. The threaded barrel is what makes it restricted and not prohib

love the gun, hate the trigger. im putting a pyramid trigger in mine soon, just tried one a couple days ago. no more plasticy snap and spring bouncing feeling, no more weird breaking point... ya its a $200 trigger but im getting one.

ive tried to put my glock up for sale a few times but can never bring myself to do it.

part of the fun is glocks don't suffer a shortage of quality performance/custom part builders. other brands apart CZ aren't as easily pimped.

i have rockyourglock and zev fullcrum drop in triggers installed in both my 17 -34-35 pistols . the fullcrum unit combined with the comp spring kit is the best of all (my G34/G-17) . the rockyourglock unit may not comes with the trigger housing nor race connector/race spring kit, but it's still fully adjustable in over/pre travel via set screws . the good thing is the RYG is 100.00$ instead of the FDIK 180$ ; however , i pitched a V4 connector and ZEV spring kit over the RYG unit, now a soft 3 lbs break crisp as the fullcrum with still 50$ left in my pocket lol.

i'm also playing with the idea of giving the pyramid trigger from glockstore.com a try . while it seems a copy of the fullcrum the nitron ''anti friction'' finish of the pyramid unit is intriguing . bought many glockstore.com item/parts in the past, some are just junk but others like their tungsten guide rod are on par with zev/RYG units.

I traded a Beretta 92 for a Glock 17. I guess everyone should own at least one plastic pistol, and I have no issues with it.
However, once you shoot a 1911, everything else seems pale by comparison.
It probably won't leave the locker much, untill our CCW comes into effect. That's where the lightweights really shine.

I bought a glock out of spite. My buddy has always wanted one and he is a real tire kicker. He has had a license for almost 10 years and still has not bought a gun but he always talked about a glock. And I personally don't find them appealing. So I bought one to spite him. It's a pretty good gun tho

IMHO

The GLOCK 17 is the best offering they have ( well the 19 really......but you get the point) I wouldn't worry about "getting a lemon" with a Gen 4. For every 1 problem reported, you'll find 100 guys that love theirs. That's just the nature of internet reviews. People will always complain, but very few will post positive thoughts.

The 17/19 Gen 4 is one of the most reliable 9mm's out there. Also consider the M&P.

I had a Mp9. not my cup of tea. Poorly crafted IMHO.

Nailed it...

Official voluntary recall for Gen 4 was issued by Glock in late 2011 (except for models 26 and 27 which were always using double spring assembly).
I believe that it happened not, because of the people who were complaining (which was obvious), but because some of the police departments South of the border started phasing Gen 4 pistols out, soon after they adopted them. However, if You'll check the latest reports from the owners on the biggest Glock website on the net (I won't mention any address here for obvious reasons) this is still on-going problem for a number of pistols from Gen 4, especially with the lighter loads in 9mm. Seems like the newest Gen 4 pistols chambered in 40 are just fine, while .45 is NEARLY problem free as well (there are some reports out there as well, but not as many as with 9mm pistols). I agree that for some people Gen 4 is quite an improvement - especially in terms of ergonomics. Good to see that Glock finally addressed the grip issues by providing few, different back straps. Also seems like most of the people like the texture of the grip better than the old one. I feel just fine with Gen 3 and there is a reason why it's still offered by the dealers...and this reason is called a demand.

They had a few issues with gen 4s last year. On mine the guiderod/spring would slip off the notch on the barrel. I got a replacemet under their recal and no more issues.
I know another buddy has a gen 4 and his kept jamming, recalled guiderod and no more issues. His was fine with +p ammo, but regular power would jam.
Rhe other thing is the 9mm ejector was redesigned. I was getting hit with brass once and a while, changed it out and now the brass all goes out to the side...not under recall but if you complain they will swap it out if you mail your glock to police ordinance. ..I just bought the $5 part and put it in.

The Gen 4 Glock 17 issues have been addressed....its old news. If you do happen to own an early Gen 4 G17, Glock will update the firearm free of charge. The latest Gen 4's (with the four backstraps) are 100% reliable. I call them the Gen 4.5
