I'm a dirty filthy hypocrite

good argument but things were a little different 1000 years ago. Besides, trading recipes is not the same as stealing patents. Whats worse is they are selling them back to us and nobody wants to miss a bargain. Sure its a developing country (or was?) that needs to make a few bucks but not at the expense of the minds of others...do something original instead.

Yeah, cause all of the American companies producing 1911s developed them from scratch and aren't copying a design that's 98 years old. I'm sure they're all doing something original.

Colt's 1911 patents expired sometime after the war.

Anyone find it odd that a pistol designed in 1911 is still being made and by a large number of different manufacturers?
Guess it's hard to improve on a Browning design.;)

At first I thought it was a case of Harley Davidson Syndrome where "we" like them just because of what they are and to hell with how they perform or how reliable they are. Then I got to shoot one and like so many before me I fell in love with the ergonoics and balance of them. Whether by accident or design they truly are a great shootin' iron that deserves its reputation.

My own 1911 has a few hiccups that I'm personallizing to suit myself and I may well sell it at some point. But it will only be to replace it with another.

Likely I'll tend to keep two on hand. One nice one from one of the recognized master companies and something like a Norc as a project gun to tinker with.
