Im a teenager and i need some gun help

So im going deer hunting this year with my dad and he said you can buy what ever kind of gun you want unless it is under 600$ and i want a 20 gauge shot gun!Im really not a fan of kick. I just dont want it to be pump action, so if anyone can help please cause i dont know what to do!Thanks for thehelp in advance ;)Btw im from se ontario so only shotgunsfor deer hunting

You do not explain your self too well
do you want a rifle or do you want a shotgun
which one depends on what you can use in your area
shot gun =short range
rifle = short & longer range

but the shotgun can be used for birds as well

if shot gun I would stick to a 12g and 2-3/4 shells
rifle 243 will get it done

Sorry for not explaining 100%, im from se ontario so only shotgun for deer
 
Many years ago I bought the Remington "youth" model combination shotgun with a rifled deer barrel and shot barrel, and it's been very good to me. I put on a recoil pad because of the short length of pull and it makes the shotgun very comfortable to fire. I'm a big fan of 20 ga. and with good rifled sabots you'll knock down just about anything. If I were you, I'd look for a good 20 ga. semi auto and try different sabots to see which give you the best group. That would be my "go-to" for hunting from then on. Lots of luck!

Did you even read his post? He clearly stated SHOTGUN ONLY. Didn't explain yourself to well, thats comical.

Not to familiar with 20gauge semis so I am not of much help, check you tube for some gun reviews. Usually is a lot of information on there, normally if you see a few credible people showing support for a particular product it might help narrow down the options. Buy what ever shotgun you like. Have a competent gunsmith put a nice butt pad on. If you get the right one it will reduce the felt recoil quit a bit.

Don't like autos for newbies as the get used to the "spray and pray" style of shooting
 
A 20 gauge is a fine choice you never mentioned if you're pump action or semi fan? A pump action will be lighter to carry, less expensive but will but a bit heavier in the recoil department. semis are heavier, more money but will reduce some recoil.

Just want to add you will find more ammo options for a 12 gauge and if you fire 2 3/4" ammo your recoil will be close to the same as a 20gauge. Gun model and most importantly, at this time of year availability will be better for 12 ga offerings.

I would suggest to you possibly a Mossberg 500 3 barrel combo gun it would be a one gun battery for all your shotgunning c/w 24" cantilever rifled slug barrel, 24" turkey barrel and 26" waterfowl barrel and 4 choke tube Full mod, ic and x-full turkey. And it would be in your price range specs. Although you'd need a scope for the slug barrel......if dad will swing it for you?

Oh yeah one more thing go to a good gun shop and pick up a few different guns and be sure they fit you. You can test that by closing your eyes, shoulder the gun....when you open your eyes you should be looking straight down the barrel at the bead, no craning your neck or readjusting your cheekweld to the stock. If you have to do that the gun does not fit. A good gun counter person can help but be sure you trust them, crummy ones will do anything to get the sale. Bring dad along for a Bullsh+* monitor.

I know a 20 gauge kicks less than a 12 gauge, at least with bird shot, but a 20 weighs less too so when you go to a slug I don't know how much the difference will be. I know that I perceive the recoil when I fire a 12 gauge slug out of my Browning A-5, long recoil, it seems to be stiffer than the same weight of bird shot.

Savage 220 slug gun. It is a bolt action 20 gauge. Things like a lazer. Only downside is it is dedicated for slugs unlike the mossberg combo which you can use for birds and other uses.
