I'm about to incur the rath of numerous CGN'ers...

Why does the receiver look like it is missing paint to the left of the cocking handle?

Just handle one these last week, I to would prefer the cocking handle to be like the FNC1 also, as for the rest of the controls, I can't say much, nicer fit than those HK's with the thumbhole stock.

i for one like the mag systeme and with mag cliped in pair or in trio my mag change are as fast as on the AR maybe even faster. try to activated the lever with our triger finger as your left hand do the mag change VERY VERY fast :D

I had a good look at one of these at a gunshow recently and it sure looked a nice piece of workmanship, and so it should for $3000.

The problem with the ejecting cases has put me right off these rifles, I'm surprised that the manufacturer has not rectified the problem before offering them for sale.

I think its a nice rifle. It shoots great and is built like a brick ####house.
Would I buy one?Nope.Too much money for what you get.Spend the extra money you would save tuning up your AR ...AND buy extra ammo to hone up your skills.

The HK series has a similar problem. The fixed it with a clip-on "port buffer"

I put a piece of skateboard tape on the reciever where the cases strike. I also do the same for my AR-15's. It works wonders and even looks tactical! The issue ammo for these (I have a case of the stuff) is 62 grain RUAG so I am not really understanding the complaints on the twist rate. If I want to use a heavier bullet I have a .308 rifle... ;)

I stated in my first post, if shooting just ball the twist is ideal, but many of us like to shoot 75gr pills for competition etc. Pretty clear to me ;) The 75gr .223 approximates match .308 loads, but with far less recoil, and without going to an AR-10 or M14 etc.

Never really liked the look of the stock, but since it's one of the only non-restricted black rifles, it's still in the cards.

I love the Swiss Arms/SIG. I don't mind the extra weight of steel I don't have to hump it anywhere. :D

I can change mags on it as, if not more quickly then an AR, it's just conditioning. Switching between an AR and SIG will f**k you up. The SIG/AK system IMHO is better.

I don't like the cocking handle on the side and the fact that it can be removed so easy and lost, the rubber gasket is a POS.

I never understood why the selector switch was ambidextrous but not the rest of the rifle?

The selector switch is out of reach for people who have small or medium sized hands without shifting your grip. The Swiss must have big dicks!? :p :)

+1, They are unfortunately overpriced.

Ya, but I can shoot critters with my PE - can't do that with your AR :D

This from a guy who'd still get tenex if he was using a ####ing musket.

...and how can i tune my ar. this year i'm gonna shoot a bone stock pencil bbl 14.5 because the two times i shot a match better than you were rendered pointless because i'd floated my bbl and had a 4.5lb two stage (and you still took home all the trophies anyways).

even though i grow tumescent at the thought of 15,000 rds i don't regret my purchase

jl:D

You guys arguing that AR mag changes are faster.... Are you dropping your empty mags?

Maybe it's just one of those gun game things, versus those of us that were trained to hold onto our empties... They don't grow on trees in a combat zone! (Unless you're an American troopie). Besides which, isn't your fire team partner covering you while you change mags? Oh wait... there I go with real battle drills versus IPSC again...

;)

Sorry to digress - Just couldn't resist!

I find my black special to be "front heavy", shooting off hand makes this noticeable, The rifle is very balanced up to the point the stock attaches.

About the Mag release - how do you guys work yours ? I find myself fumbling and most times switching between my index finger and thumb to disengage the mag.

What is the "proper" way to operate the release as it was designed? short of signing up for a junior jihadist summer camp.

Also I am bit disappointed being a lefty of the sling mounts - but thats minor, there are other ways to sling this rifle

And just what force are you a part of? Securicor? ;) :p

And even hanging onto the spent mags, I feel the AR system still wins, as you have to have a hand on the dropping mag anyhow if saving it, and your 'free' trigger hand is manipulating the mag release without any switch in grip; one less job for the mag changing hand.

I'm afraid though, that I'm not likin where this is going :p I see mud slinging on the horizon (nothing to do with you specifically just a tone change, and so far this thread has been remarkably civil! :) )`

So, we've concluded; the PE90 is a fine rifle, but not ideal, and not for everyone (my summary :) ). Then again what gun couldn't you say that about? ;)

Oh, exactly, as I said before...

IF I could own my Holy Grail of rifles, it would be an FN. As I can't, the PE90 is about the closest I can get, as realistically I don't need anything heavier than .223 to vaporize paper targets. It is not ideal, but it is close.

Thankfully, in my 13 years of wearing green for the Queen, I never actually had to exchange rounds with a "real" enemy.

I am not a fan of AR's - Never have been, probably never will be, but I do maintain an open mind. You are all entitled to whatever blows your hair back, as last time I checked, this was still a more or less free country.

Also, so sorry you missed my "winking" icon.... Crikey: We are all on the same side here, eh?

Cheers,

Neal
