Well, just to remind myself that I'm not perfect......I was loading up 30 shells of 000 buckshot for a trip to the range tomorrow. I still had a lot to get done before bed, so I was in a bit of a hurry. I put the 12 ga shell in the decapping station with my right hand, and pulled the handle down with my left pretty quickly. Unfortunately, my thumb was still under the primer station. It didn't split the nail, but DAMN that hurts :redface: No, I haven't taken a picture of it yet. I'll wait until there's a good mark in the nail first LOL.

I've been at this game plenty long enough to know better, but here's a little reminder. When you're reloading, DON'T RUSH !!!! :rolleyes:

A fine drill bit, soaked in rubbing alcohol and rolled between the thumb and forefinger of my good hand was just the trick I needed:)

My dad used to have a neon sign shop, and my thumb would sometimes be in the wrong place as the jaws of the 8' brake were closing - I feel your pain... And like ninepointer says, you may need to drill a BP relief hole...
 
There is a reason why in many combat systems the off hand or "alive hand" (in escrima) is placed safely on the belly, across the heart or throat, behind the back or in a front pocket. Not the least of which is so that you don't cut or shoot it off! ;)

If I didn't know better, I'd say you snuck in here last night and took a picture of my thumb while I was sleeping !!! LOL. It's not throbbing as much, but it's still pretty sore to the touch. This should make for an interesting day at the range.
 
Ooooh, i know it! i got my middle finger caught between the blades and bedknife of a greensmower while i was back lapping it last fall. I almost lost the tip of my finger, but luckily the blades jammed on my finger while the belt slipped on the back lapping motor, and all i got was a finger with no nail on it in less than 24 hrs. even with 3 lil' holes in it.
 
Reminds me of the time my father was sighting in his Bar. He is a lefty and he had his right hand on the receiver, needless to say that when the bolt came back his thumb nail didn't stand a chance. Tore the thumbnail and skin underneath right off, I nearly puked but he didn't seem to concerned, just kept shooting with blood running all over the gun and table. Tough old bugger!
 
I feel your pain. Finger injuries suck. You sure find out how often your heart beats after you smash a finger. The wost one I ever had was when I was thrusting a pump rotor to do an end float check and the bar slipped out from behind the coupling and I caught my pinky on a gauge and ripped the nail clean off.
 
My Father used to have a old saying.

NEVER PUT YOUR FINGERS WHERE YOU WOULD NOT PUT YOUR PECKER!

Seriously though happens to everyone, look at it this way at least you know your still alive.;)
 
Yup. That hurts ! Try it using a 10lb mallet while you try to drift adjust open sights and drop the damn thing on your little pinky finger ! ! Blood everywhere ! ! !
