I ordered a bunch of SMLE parts today from Numrich/ Gun Parts Corp as I'm restoring a NO 1 Mark III for a buddy . I've also got a No5 that someone cut the flash - hider off of , so I thought I'd order one while I was at it . I was told , apologetically , that they wont send them to Canada as they are being seized by customs , even though they aren't covered by ITAR . Has anyone else had this happen to them or am I just special ?
 
Yeah, few years ago you could import flash hiders from Numrichs. Not anymore apparently.

That being said, it is still possible to have someone other than Numrichs throw the flash hider in the mail and simply not call it a flash hider on the customs form... if you catch my drift...

Very bad advice. I won't even start to list why, it is self explanatory. Better to contact customs and determine the proper way to import the item without hiccups, or source from somewhere else.

I ordered and got one from them in the fall. No problems. I wonder if it is just some shipper who dosn't have a clue.
 
Shipping and shipping labels can help. For instance if it is labeled as gun parts...it is going to be inspected 100% of the time. Machined parts or replacement parts is also a true label. Shipping it in a plain box would also help. If a vendor is not willing to make a package more palatable, then it is time to look for a different vendor. Giving the Border Nazi's a excuse makes the whole exercise a waste of time.

I once had a Long Branch forearm for a No 4 seized under ITAR and "destroyed", ie not returned to sender. Yet have had several others shipped no problem from the states , correctly described on the customs doc as "Wood Furniture Parts" (well, that IS the correct term!!)
